Upper Hunter councils shunned during Minister's visit

A change of government but it seems the O'Farrell regime is also reluctant to actually engage with local communities over coal mining as the Keneally/Rees/Iemma/Carr governments were.

The story doing the rounds is the Mayor of Muswellbrook expressing disappointment about Resources Minister Chris Hartcher not agreeing to meet with Council during his recent tour of the area.

This is when he's on record saying that he wants to hear early feedback on the government’s draft land use plans

"The government remains committed to continuing a genuine dialogue with all stakeholder and community groups during the two month consultation process".

Perhaps a case of actions speaking louder than words.
